Thanks, Glenn and David, that was really cool ummm For those that weren't aware, the Hemified car is a "prototype" Funny Car that I built with a plastic funny car chassis underneath covered with a stock '68 Charger canopy. I was trying to stay "pure" to a Funny Car look with "slicks" in the back, razors in front, and an "open underneath" canopy (and I threw in needle axles just for kicks). Glenn agreed to give it a couple runs down the track for me so I could see how the "experiment" would turn out. Well, I didn't pack it worth a darn and the needles got trashed during shipping I thought the body would protect the wheels better, but I guess I didn't think about it taking blows from directly underneath. I felt like I really let Glenn and David and the rest of you guys down by not having her in racing condition for the May Slammr's race Anyway, Glenn fixed her up for me and let 'er run, and the results were attached above. She actually ran a little better than I expected. I figured that the needles and "racing" wheels would provide a big gain in the speed department, but that the open canopy would drag her like a parachute. I thought about adding a cover panel underneath to cut off the airflow, but just couldn't bring myself to wreck the "purism" of the Funny Car build. Glenn and David: Sorry I let you down with the needle shipping debacle, but you came through once again with the unsolicited repairs and special video to demonstrate your commitment to the builders here at PDDR. Not to mention, of course, letting me get a bit off the beaten path with the build itself. Many thanks. Bubba

That right there is why the PDDR and the Jewkes boys rock. Took a trashed car - compliments of a disgruntled postal employee - and instead of just shipping it back and saying, "Sorry 'bout your luck Bubba" , rebuilt the thing, even replacing an axle, and let it run against the Big Dog 426 Hemi powered Shockwave. Then made a video of it for us all to enjoy. Thanks guys, you're awesome. BTW, I think I did actually see the front wheels come off the ground when that big 426 hit 2nd gear.

BTW, I think I did actually see the front wheels come off the ground when that big 426 hit 2nd gear. LOL. I'm not sure if they did lift or not, but man that car does seem to take off when it hits 2nd. Hemified gets the holeshot, but ShockWave gets the win!
