Here is my rig for drilling axle holes: Proxxen drill with x-y table, The Block and short drill bit: This car body was made with a bandsaw to cut it thin. A hand drill to place the tungsten round and the rig above: Axle prep in a variable speed dremel with stand and bore prep with a qtip and hand drill.... Spend the money/effort to get the holes straight. This is what makes the car fast. Other things done however possible as they are much less critical... Rear axles straight with holes drilled canted 3 degrees Front left drilled straight and raised Front right drilled straight with axle bent Axle bent with file while axle chucked in dremmel tool and then bent while in dremmel...

Been thinking about replacing my loose press with a Proxxon too. But Microlux builds one (or renamed) just like it. I don't know who was first. But it's a lot cheaper. Does any one have a Micro-mark/Microlux machine? www.micromark.com/MICROLUX-3-SPEED-MINI-DRILL-PRESS,7797.html OK, did some checking. It seems that the Proxxon is a knock off of the Micro-mark. Micro-mark is made in Japan. The Proxxon in Germany. Both get good reviews.

I have one, its great. If you have time, keep an eye out as they go on sale every so often. If you can, get the one with the variable speed. The base is supposed to be bigger and having that adjustment would be nice - I don't.

I emailed our local woodcraft store (sell drill presses, etc.) and told him that there were some good deals online, but I would rather buy local than the internet. I asked him to give me the best price he could on a Proxxon drill press and XY table. I got the drill press for $194.65 and the XY table for $84.50--no shipping.
