I want to run a SuperProMod at the ECD Nationals next month.Does anyone know the dimensions of the bearings? Every site I have looked at all want inner and outer diameters plus the width. Also,do they fit in the new Holeshot wheels?? I checked with Glenn and he just sold out, that's why I'm asking

J.A.C,
I will try to help you with this. 1st, no matter what mod wheel you choose, you will have to have the bores machined to fit the bearings you choose. The most common bearings used are .1562" O.D X .0469" I.D. Every set I have ever made for racers uses the flanged version. I also believe this is the same that Glenn uses for his bearing wheels. I also have another car racing at the PDDR with .1875" O.D X .0937" I.D flanged bearings. This is not a choice for the Holeshots because there is not enough hub to machine. I have been making my own wheels and this is the size I used in them. They are a tad bit cheaper(unless you go Ceramic bearings) and easier for my fat fingers to work with. Both choices work great but if you are going to use the Holeshots, you will have to go with the 1st version i talked about. I have had little luck with just 1 bearing per wheel so you will most likely want to plan on (6) bearings total. Let me know if you need any other help and I will do my best. Good luck and hope to welcome another racer to this great class.

so did anyone ever answer WHERE you can get these bearings, and how much they cost? I can't find anything that small. Has anyone seen a performance difference between abec 5 and 7?

well maybe I'm blind, but I can't find them on there. I did a search for "bearing" on that site and came up with axles only.

Im dabbling in bearing cars.
I have gotten bearings from a few mfg/sellers.
I have seen them as high as $16.00 each to as low as $4.00.
A few places that seem to have bearings that work well and are the standard size everyone seems to be using. the .0469 i.d. / .1562 o.d.
PMB micro bearings. alpine bearings. national precision bearings. boca bearings.
I got some for as low at $4.00 each and some for around $8.00 each.
I'm on a budget and will see soon enough how the $4.00 and $8.00 china bearings work compared to the $15.00 each bearings.

DaPine makes some bearing wheels with inexpensive materials and tools...

Yes, I was litterally shocked and in awe. In that Dapine can make wheels with just a razor blade and a drill press. Pretty impressive and hes fast too.
I find allot of very talented and crafty people in this sport.

The cost of bearings definately doesn't reflect on performance! I am shocked at what worked the best for me. John, You could take the beads out of a baby's rattle and get a car to run fast on it.

I would guess John does use Glenn's wheels. What John was referring to was his choice of bearings. Glenn does not make his own bearings so John was saying he was amazed what worked.
