Now this is what I'm talking about That is some cool looking gravity powered custom work there... nicely done... I like that style... very modern and mechanical... love it ... Got any More ? ? Remember boy's... it doesn't have to be made of wood to go down the track.... ;D

Ian, that is awesome looking! Can't wait to see it run. The coolest thing is making it 100% by yourself. Now as for video of it when you test on Friday...are you really going to make me show my disaster of a basement to everyone?

Thank you everyone for the compliments. I have so much fun trying new things and now if it can only go fast.
Andy,
I think everyone on here would agree with me.......if someone has a 3 lane 42' BestTrack in their basement, it can never be categorized as a disaster. I just appreciate you allowing me in your home to test these cars. See you Friday!

Bill, Great to hear your going to join us in the Super Pro mods. Wow, with 42 years in the trade your getting close to the retired life. ;D I am actually a journeyman tool & die maker but only been doing it for 10 years now. I really do not call it tool and die any more because the CNC machines and EDM machines do all the work now a days. You guys that been in it for a long time had to know so much more than the new breed. That was 1 big thing i wanted to do with the making of this car. We have about 10 CNC machines here and several EDM machines. I wanted this car 100% hand made and thats what it is. I used a lathe, mill, drill press and some good old fashion elbow grease to polish the body and wheels. The extruded acrylic is probably not the best material out there but seemed strong enough for what i was looking for. These are machined down to .024" thick and weigh in at exactly .5 grams. The bearing are just a abec-5 .0469 ID bearing. I am using 2 per wheel right now. I think nylon would be a bad choice but who am I to tell someone with 42 years experience what material to use Best of luck to you Bill. Ian

Thanks again all. As for the testing, the car was way off pace when I 1st ran it down the track. The master Zeeb had a few ideas that we tried and we did get the times down but still need to find quite a bit more in it. The 1 area that I believe is giving me the problem is the wheels. The mirrored acrylic has a film on the 1 side. The film is not smooth and it's the side that makes contact with the track. Being we tested mostly for the needles yesterday, I decided to wait till our next test session to try new wheels. I will be machining up some black acrylic this coming week that is smooth on both sides. I also have some black Holeshots that I have machined up for bearings that I want to try. So when it's all said and done, it may be Jewkes equipped after all. The part that keeps me excited about this car was, we raced my other 2 Super Pro mods against Speed Metal and Speed would kill them down the hill! So I am hopeful that with some new shoes on her we will see a lot better times. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks again for the compliments. Bottom line is, I can't just send in a car to look good, I want it to be FAST! Have a great day all.
Ian
