my name is Dave Chatterton. in 1970 i was 8 years old and i got to build my first pine wood derby car with my dad. he shaped it sanded it painted it and said "boy we got a winner hear". i could not wait for our pack race. we were racing on a old old wood track2 lane. i got to put my car on the track and i lost EVERY time boy was i ever disappointed.
the next year dad helped me build a new one dad said he had a new idea. he shaped it sanded it painted it and he drilled a hole striate through the center of the car. then he said "boy we got a winner hear". i could not wait for race day to come! my friend didn't have a dad to help him with his car so i lined him my gold car from my first year. every time he raced my car it WON every time . my yellow car lost every time.
in 1992 my oldest son turned 8 years old. we (i) could not wait for the pack race as we were building the car i remembered my dads words "boy we got a winner hear". so i said to my son "we may not win but we will have a good looking car " so we went to our first race and not only did the car look great we one first place!.
and this started my addiction.
i have 4 sons hints (4boyz racing) over my boys cub scout racing we won some and lost some. my youngest sons last race was 2004. in between my boys racing i have helped numerous boys and dads with there cars. i spent last year watching pddr on youtube. then i got addicted once more. with the help of my dad we got a 2 lane and 4 lane from best track . we use the 2 lane for cub scout racing around our town.
now I'm racing in the mod class with pddr . my youngest son (Disturbed Racing) is building mod and door slammers. pddr rocks our world
thank you
