I forgot the stock class can have an extended WB. I had drilled it for the PS class. Once I saw my mistake I was able to redrill the FDW. I had to leave the rears alone because I had already tapered one side.

W, I have yet to build a really fast car to compete at PDDR. But in the next races I'm really going to try. I have tried to reinvent the wheel and it didn't work. So I'm kind of building cars like the other fast cars with just a little experimentation added. All I can say is I really want a track to tweak my cars. I hope to win the one at East Coast derby!

Acme,
I have not built a car that has ruffled any feathers at PDDR either. I have finnished in the bottom quarter my first two showings at PDDR. I'm sending in my new pure stock to run on Saturday during the stock race. My main goal this year is to earn a Sub 3.0 patch so my focus has been the pure stock class. If I accomplish that I'm going to try and work my way up from the bottom. That will prove to be a challenge but this has been one fun race season for me so far. I do admire that you have tried some alternative approaches to what the norm has been on the PDDR track. My car this weekend will test a new body style and weight placement. Nothing innovative just a varation on some of the other fast cars. I want a track as well, I'm in the process of selling my house and when that happens my new place will have the room for a Besttrack.
Vitamin K: pony I'd love to see a video of your putty technique, if you were so inclined.

pony: Don't over heat the axle. I did that once too and I had to resand the axle. Two seconds of the flame is all I did. I hold the axle in the drill chuck, heat it then immediately spin it against the silly putty. I then wipe the axle down by hand.

pony: I do the same technique with the hard ski waxes which I use a lot. You can heat the axle or if you don't want to use the heat just hold the hard ski wax against the spinning axle. Use high speed. The ski wax transfers by friction and the heat of the spin.

pony: Remember though you still need some form of silicone on the axle after the ski wax. Plastics on steel always needs silicone. I don't have the technical know how to do a video and post it. It's the same process as polishing compounds and polishing wheels.

pony: In everyday Cub scout races the Jig or the Max-Pro is good enough. The Silly Putty was only .001 faster. If the Silly Putty feels old and dried out I'd try to get some more and just use the heat of the spinning axle to get it to transfer over to the axle.

pony: Has anyone had trouble with their timers? Mine seems to have lost .015 or all my cars are dogs.

Zeebzob: Pony, I would check the gate first. I have found the gate to be a cause of a sudden time discrepancy.

pony: Thanks, Zeeb. I did work on the gate prior to this loss of speed or time. It's the way of the world, you try to fix something and you screw up something else.
