as this is my first bearing wheel car, after you get new bearings do you need to break them in? will they get faster after 50 runs down the track? a counted the bearings in these wheels, there are 6. is that good? as far as i know, these wheels/bearings have been down the track 6 times + however many times in the build stage. bri

Brian,
You will find people that say yes, break them in and others that don't think it makes a difference. My fastest bearing car ran it's best times with new bearings that were just cleaned with mineral spirits and put into the wheels. So I don't worry about the break in stuff and just let the car run. With that being said, I think bearings with looser tolerances(abec5 or less) seem to work the best. So in theory, I would have to say as the bearing balls and races wear, the bearings would get a bit faster. The question now is, does this bearing wear come after 50 runs? 100? or thousands? I do not have the time to experiment with this subject but would be very interesting to see. That is the great part about the bearing class. Everyone is so equal, and yet, there is still so much more to learn about the class. Glad to see some new blood getting into this class. Best of luck to you Brian.
Ian
