well, here are the initial pics of old school, now that i have the basic shape made, i just need to go nuts with the hand sanding. went for something a little different. more show than go . I still think it will have some speed, but its not foremost on this build. My boy Wyatt is using another piece of walnut to make a mod, he will post later. wood is walnut from a 49 year old 1st place go-cart trophy. as it sits it is 1.1oz. should be able to drop that to about .8-.9 once i get the weight pockets hogged out and final sanding done.excuse my poor photo skills. i love the way the wood almost looks redish. it is a bear sanding it. I will also be narrowing the front lip about a quarter.

DNA,
I love the color of the walnut, looks really good! I also like the design of your car, also looks good. I look forward to seeing more photos of the build process and the final product. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! ya, it will be ready ;Di sanded it down to 600 grit tonight, carved the weight pockets and added the weight. I made my goal of .8oz. without the weight, i tell ya what, working with walnut is strange, with pine you kinda just know when your getting close to where ya need to be. everything changes with a real heavy wood.i had to do alot of things i normaly would not do. the com is WAY back, about 1/2" if i can get it to run straight it should burn up the track.... I would say if it wasnt for the novelty of running a 49yr old slab, it isnt worth it. walnut has a very open grain to it, so i will have to do a ton of sanding between alot of coats of clear. i will have a few pics tomorrow after work, right now the epoxy is drying on the weights.I decided to just use clear on the raw wood, no stains. i got a set of the Dynasty Rage Xtreme orange wheels for it,I also have 91 SGA's for axles. so hopefully I will be running sub 3's. Thanks for the encouragement! bri
