When building my car about how much so I allow for the weight of the prep and paint. I understand it depends on how much paint is used, but on average is there a figure to use or do you adjust for the added weight of the paint after the car is painted.
Thanks

If you will be using a sandable primer such as Plasti-Kote (which is heavy), I would suggest leaving 8-10 grams for primer, basecoat, and clearcoat. So your car, including wheels and axles, should weigh 132-134 grams before adding paint.
Depending how many coats you apply, Plasti-Kote primer can weigh 4-6 grams, basecoat 1-2 grams, clearcoat 1-2 grams.
Waterslide labels and prep supplies such as polishes, waxes, and lubrication weigh virtually nothing.
If your weight is short after the car is finished, you can always add tungsten BB's by drilling a hole on the bottom of the car and gluing in with epoxy.
It's easier to add weight than remove weight . . . so shoot for under and then add as needed.
Hope that helps. Cygnus

Thanks for the information, that is what I'm looking for. Are there some brand paints that are lighter than others?

We've mostly been using lacquer rattle can paints from Dupli-Color, Testors and Tamiya and the weights have been pretty consistent across the board.
