Little history. This Track is 3 years old. It's 4 lanes, 42'. This is my first year taking over the Pack Derby and I never put this track together when it was purchased. The track was very mis-handled the last two years. Being stored in the rafters in a shed by the church. Not much care was given to the ends of each sectoins and there is a lot of burs and it needs a lot of attention. That being said, the first section I put to the curve I noticed lane #2 is warped. Can this be fixed or do I need to buy a new lane to replace it? I have pics. Left side of Lane #2 Right side of Lane #2 All of Lane #2 is it ok to put pins in the guide rails? it looks like the pins would fit, the manual says you dont have to, but it doesn't say you cant.

The warped lane will probably need to be replaced, you can order that from best track. One thing to check for, is to make sure that all of the pins in each track section are inserted into the end that is closest to the stop section, not the end that is closet to the start gate.

You can repair that. It's not really that bad. Do you have access to a milling machine? I would mill across the bad part(pins removed). Keeping all of your lanes bolted up, keep making passes until its all square and smooth. You may loose a 1/4" of track length, but its better than buying more pieces. That's what I would do, or have done. A machine shop would probably do it for free or really cheap, if its for the Cub Scouts.

I have no access to a mill, but what I do have is 4 extra lanes. The pack purchased this track at 49' and I was unaware till this morning. The extra 4 lanes was at our cubmaster's house, stored away because they didn't use it. For right now, I will replace that lane.
Thank you

You could make it into a three lane track.

Thank you for this info, I was unaware and the pins are put in the wrong end of the sections. That is actually wrong info. Insert the pins on the ends of the track heading to the stop section. Take a drill bit and lightly ream the holes that these pins will insert in so it gives wiggle room to drop the section to make sure there are no up bumps. John, I think we're both saying the same thing.

I did install the pins as per the drawing above and the section in question, dropped. It is still warped up, run my fingers over and its very little bump.
I did however swap out that lane for a different one from the extra 4 lane section I found out the pack had. All is good now.
I really do apperciate all the help here.
Thank You

Next step is to polish it with Eagle One Nevr-Dull Wadding Polish, and then Mothers Billet Metal Polish, and then you will have a brand new track that you're whole Pack can be proud of. ;D

I think I got the track dialed in. Haven't polished it yet, but my car I built was running 3.122 average. After doing some filing, sanding and playing with the alignment. The same car is now down to a 3.010 average, with a 3.003 as it's best time. I'm so close to a Sub 3.
