I've used (and since sold) a microlux mini drill press for drilling out my axles using the BLOCK. The press said it was supposed to be true with the base and have literally zero runout. I didnt find this to be the case which is why I sold it.
I've also used a cheap Lowes benchtop drill press for milling out bodies and polishing wheels.
I'm wondering what type of drill press you guys use for drilling your axle holes? I'm considering spending $500 or so on a nice JET drill press which has an adjustable table which hopefully would allow me to true the table and bit exact.
It looks like the proxxon is almost identical to the microlux, so i guess im not too thrilled on spending money on such a small press again.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Also....do you guys use a scroll saw or a bandsaw to cut your bodies out???

I use a Proxxon mini drill press with the X-Y table attachment for drilling axle holes and I just recently bought a new bench top drill press from Lowes for polishing axles and odd and end stuff when needed. My old one bit the dust.
As for the accuracy of my Proxxon, it was dead nuts on the money.

Was your table warped or your chuck wobbly. I placed a mirror on my table with thin double sided tape. However my chuck is a little wobbly. I need a new drill press too! When I buy one I`m taking The Block with me to check it.

I did have to shim the x-y table i had on my microlux to get it what I thought was perfectly square, but it still didnt drill exactly perfect. The chuck also seemed OK as well.... Who knows...
I read on one of these posts that someone was considering buying a micro milling/drilling machine. I was kinda thinking the same thing since they come equipped with an x-y table and could be used for milling out the weight pockets of cars.
Just curious how accurate the drilling of one of these machines would be?

However the standard proxxon drill press is dead on accurate. It can't be better than that... (may be worse???)

The mill should work just like a drill press when you want it to (however I have never used the proxxon one). Just with extra functionality. Seems to have better build quality.
However the Proxxon Drill press is so accurate and proven. Unless someone has experience with the mill it would be hard for me to go that route...
